Out of School Childcare development:

The Childcare Development Worker helps with setting up out of school provision for children, aged 0 - 19, in the Winchester and Test Vally area. Services include helping with funding and support for management committees.

The Childcare Development Worker can help with:

- Researching needs

 

- Keeping accounts

- Forming management committees

 

- Recruiting staff

- Sources of funding

 

- Training staff

- Writing funding applications

 

- Registering provision

- Business plans

 

- Publicity

- and more...

 

 

 

 

 


Start up funding is available from the Early Education and Childcare Unit for new and expanding out of school childcare clubs. On going funding is available from a range of sources.
 

Out of School provision includes:

Breakfast Clubs:
Open in the morning usually from 8am to 9am daily during term time.

After School Clubs: Collect children straight from school and take them to the provision. They usually operate between 3:15pm to 6pm each weekday during term time. Sometimes children are collected from different schools to attend the club. . If they are not on school premises staff normally escort children to and from the provision.

Holiday PlaySchemes: Usually operate between 8:30 and 6pm during the school holidays. Provision takes place on a variety of sites, including schools. Provision takes place on a variety of sites, including schools, community centres and leisure centres. Support is available to enable employers, schools, colleges, private providers, voluntary groups and others to develop out of school childcare.

Existing Providers:

The Childcare Development Worker also works with existing providers. 

Services include support work, guidance, signposting and organising and maintaining Out of Schools Networks which support Playworkers so that they can share good practice. 

The Childcare Development Worker will also help identify training needs within these provisions.
