Introduction Winchester Area Community Action (WACA) is the Council for Voluntary Service supporting voluntary and community activity in Winchester.
WACA exists to: - Provide information and support for voluntary and community groups - Promote networking and liaison among voluntary groups and with statutory agencies - Develop services to meet community needs - Represent the voice of the community, the voluntary sector and service users - Support and develop the voluntary sector in the Winchester District - Strategic Partnership and the Social Inclusion Partnership, as well as other strategic work.
WACA gives local organisations a co-ordinated voice and involves them in consultation and policy making.
1. Mission Statement A Council for Voluntary Service that provides voluntary sector support, enables collaboration, generates strategy, promotes best practice and strengthens the sector's influence in order to sustain a strong, diverse and vibrant voluntary and community sector.
2. Values WACA opposes discrimination of all forms, whether or not barred by legislation, and seeks to ensure that equality of opportunity and a recognition of the value of diversity are reflected in all its activities.

National Association of Councils for Voluntary and Community Action Principles - Working towards a just and participatory society - All people have equal rights to work towards social justice and to participate in decision making processes and local action - Priority should be given to working with communities and groups whose full participation in society is limited by economic disadvantage or institutional discrimination - To affirm and enable all people to play an active part in their community, both individually and collectively
WACA can also offer the following resources and services to its members: - A quarterly newsletter (Community News) and interim e-bulletins - Photocopying facilities - Use of office equipment, such as a spiral binding machine, paper cutter and laminator - Computer time; a PC with up to date software is available to use for your newsletters, reports, posters, or other office documents - We can offer help and advice in the use of office equipment, although you will need to book some time first - Help with setting up and maintaining your groups or organisation’s accounts and payroll
