Development Support

The DSS (Development Support Service) is based in The Colebrook Centre  if you are intending to use the service, please telephone or email prior to your visit to ensure that the Development Support Officer is available.

The Development Support Officer (DSO):
Staff, volunteers and management committees of voluntary and community groups can access a 'one-stop-shop' for advice, support and resources on a wide range of subjects.

Fundraising

Help with the development of fundraising strategies, guidance during the completion of funding application forms and proposals. Access to funding resources such as Grantseeker CD-ROM, funderfinder, the Directory of Grant Making Trusts, etc.

Help with organisational issues:

Help when starting a new group, writing a constitution, developing aims and objectives, etc. Advice on the roles and responsibilities of a management committee. Guidance on employing paid staff. Access to resources on a wide variety of management issues

Business planning:

Help with developing business or project plans. Practical support for groups undergoing change, development or consolidation
Guidance during the development of monitoring and evaluation systems

Marketing and Publicity:

Help with developing promotional strategies Guidance on the production of effective promotional materials, newsletters, etc. Advice on constructing effective press releases
'How to' books covering marketing, producing promotional materials, etc.

Charity Law:

Guidance on when and how to apply for charitable status
Assistance with the completion of charity registration forms

Other Services:

Access to CD ROMS, for self-tuition in IT Signposting to specialist advice and services
