Diversity Training and Support
Working as part of the Hampshire-wide Diversity Support Project and funded by the Big Lottery; WACA’s Diversity Outreach Worker supports all 11 Councils for Voluntary Services (CVS’s) in Hampshire to complete their Diversity Audits. The Diversity Support Worker also supports the CVS’s Diversity Champions enabling Voluntary Sector Organisations (VSO’s) to undertake diversity audits.
WACA’s Diversity Outreach Worker works closely with Community Action Hampshire’s Diversity Network Co-ordinator and assists in the of running of the quarterly Hampshire Independent Equality Forum events.
The 2011 Culturnet, WACA's Diversity outreach worker and Volunteer Centre Winchester teamed up to hold One Big Table/ Festival of Volunteering in the Outer Close of Winchester Cathedral. The event was a great success despite the rain. Planning has started to make the 2012 event even bigger and better.

The project also provides one to one and group Equality & Diversity training sessions.

At the end of June 2012 the Hampshire Diversity Support Project, funded by the Big Lottery, comes to an end. We are undertaking an evaluation of the Project in order to see the extent to which it has achieved its two overarching aims to:
• Establish and develop the Hampshire Independent Equality Forum
• Support voluntary and community organisations to meet the needs of Hampshire’s diverse communities
We have appointed two independent consultants, Shelagh Prosser and Sheila Rogers, to undertake the evaluation which begins now and will be completed by the beginning of May. They are keen to find out if the Project has:
• Helped to increase the networking, voice and influence of Hampshire’s diverse communities
• Improved links between diverse communities and service providers in the county
• Increased frontline organisations’ skills and knowledge through the use of Diversity Audits and action plans
• Helped groups to increased their skills and understanding of equality and diversity, leading to greater capacity and sustainability
• Enhanced groups’ skills and knowledge about governance, fundraising and management skills.
They are also interested in your views about the impact and effectiveness of the Hampshire Independent Equality Forum as a way of bringing together diverse groups from around the county and delivering equality, diversity and human rights agendas. If you have any specific case studies from the project in general that demonstrate good practice, please let us know.
As part of the evaluation a questionnaire will be distributed to a sample of organisations that have participated in the Hampshire Diversity Support Project. If you receive a questionnaire we hope that you will complete and return it by 23rd April 2012. A number of interviews with a range of stakeholders will also be carried out as part of the evaluation.
However, even if your organisation is not part of this sample you are still welcome to contribute by sending your comments on one or more of the key points set out above by 23rd April 2012 and emailing info@action.hants.org.uk.
Every one who contributes to the evaluation will be entered in to a draw for the vouchers. Thank you for your help and support. If you have any queries or need this information in any other format, please contact Jane on 01962 857357 or email jane.rawlins-mateus@action.hants.org.uk.
